New Single

I'm excited to announce my new single, Believe, has been delivered from the mastering plant & will be available on digital formats in the very near future! The song was recorded at Closed Studios in Willoughby, OH by Jerome Cylin with Ned Rieke on drums, Rick Pflueger on bass & yours truly on the guitars & vocals. Additional recording was done at my home studio. A photo shoot is being set up for the cover art work & once that's all done and agreed upon the song will be sent to digital platforms with a release date announced soon there after.

New Music on the Horizon

As you may or may not know the Standing 8s & I are in the midst of recording a new album. It will be a 6 song EP & I'm hoping to have it available in the fall. A couple weeks ago I was in Bristol, VA to record 3 songs direct to vinyl at the Earnest Tube. Not sure what I'll be doing with those recordings but they will be available soon in digital format. After Bristol I headed to Nashville where I had the honor of sitting in with Ken Pengal's band at the legendary Tootsie's Orchid Lounge on Broadway. Having only met the musicians the second I walked on stage I had to call out songs that were somewhat universal so Night Moves & American Girl it was. HAHA. Videos for both are below as well as a shot of me recording to vinyl. Enjoy!

A Helping Hand

Earlier this year my dear friend, Holly, got a breast cancer diagnosis. She has had surgery & although they got all the cancer out she has had some setbacks with her insurance/doctor. I started a GoFundMe page to help her out & if you would like to donate please follow the link below. I thank you in advance & know Holly & her family GREATLY appreciate the support!

Dan McCoy & the Standing 8s to play Seger's "Live Bullet"

Sept. 22 is fast approaching & you may say to yourself, "So what? That day has no significance." Oh, but it does my friend. That is the night the lads in the 8s & I will be playing Bob Seger's classic "Live Bullet" album in its entirety! It's going to be a great night of rock & roll that you won't want to miss. The locale is Beal's Pickles & Pints in Willoughby, OH. I'm also excited to announce we have an opener for that show. Parker Rieke will be doing a half hour solo acoustic set. Get there early & see what this young man is bringing to the table. Come on out!

Dan McCoy opening for Austin Lucas

Beachland Ballroom & Tavern, 15711 Waterloo Rd., Cleveland, OH 44110

Austin Lucas is both critically-acclaimed and a songwriter’s songwriter. A true road warrior having circled the globe for nearly 20 years, he’s shared stages and tours with the likes of Willie Nelson, John Moreland, Dawes, Langhorne Slim, Joe Pug and countless others.

“A beautiful slice of Americana, crafted in the shadows of dying factories and institutional neglect—a compelling, brutal snapshot of what happens when the American dream turns to ashes.” That’s what Noisey says of Immortal Americans, Austin Lucas’ new album, out Friday August 17 on Cornelius Chapel Records.

Co-produced by Austin and Will Johnson (Centro-matic), and mixed/engineered by Steve Albini, it’s a clear-eyed record for murkier times, rooted in stripped-down, gothic heartland rock songs that find Austin reflecting upon the changes in both his hometown and himself.

Written after a tumultuous period that found Austin getting sober, supporting his partner through a battle with cancer, and breaking up with his longtime record label, Immortal Americans was captured in a series of live, full-band performances. It’s the triumph of a man hitting bottom in myriad ways and finding the strength and sense of purpose to rise again.

Wide Open Country has labeled Austin an “artist to watch,” and American Songwritersays of the title track, “’Immortal Americans’ begins as a slow lament for outsiders and underdogs, before eventually building to a melodic anthem that celebrates those who transcended their outsider statuses to find community with like-minded, compassionate folks.”

The album release is part of a busy Fall for Austin. He’s in the middle of a headlining tour, and will showcase at AmericanaFest in Nashville in September. After that, Austin will head out as an opener on Face to Face’s “Hold Fast Acoustic Tour.”
