Welcome to the online home of Willoughby, OH musician Dan McCoy. Tool around a bit and check out where he'll be playing, what projects he's up to and other kind of mischief he may be into.

The Concrete Cowboy Podcast

Hey Friends & Neighbors! My good buddy Clint Holley (AKA the Concrete Cowboy) does a podcast where he interviews Cleveland area songwriters & has them play a few songs. I had the privelage of being a part of episode 4 and am sharing it with you folks right here...

Hope you folks enjoy! While you're there check out the other podcasts on his website. There's some really great stuff from some really great folks! Really!

Riding For Cancer Research

Last July I participated in Velosano, a Cleveland Clinic sponsored bicycle ride to raise money for cancer research. There are a number of courses to ride ranging from 12 miles to 206. I did the 50 mile course & am doing it again this July. My goal is to raise at least $1000 if not more. If you would like to contribute to this worthy cause please follow the link below. I thank you in advance!

We're Going to the Dogs (& other fur ball friends)!

I'm stoked to announce that we (Dan McCoy & the Standing 8s) will be playing the 6th annual Lake Humane Society Rescue Rock Off! This event has emerged over the past few years as one of the premiere events the shelter puts on & we're planning on it being another stellar show. All the bands that played last year will be returning so if you missed it in '15 you can catch a reprise this year. Sunday, March 6 is the date with the action kicking off at noon & ending at 5pm. Tickets are $20 pre-sale or $25 at the door with all the proceeds going to the shelter. There will be raffles & food & MUSIC, MUSIC, MUSIC! Something for everyone! The bands donating their time & talent this year are Horsefeathers, Dan McCoy & the Standing 8s, The Shizz, Route 86 & Collage (in that order). As an added bonus for folks who can't make it that day but would like to donate we will have a pledge page set up soon. Details for the show can be found here...

Hope to see y'all there!

Welcome to 2016

Howdy all! Happy New Year & all that good stuff. It's looking like I will be releasing SOMETHING this year! Yes, I COULD be more vague but I won't. I have a slew of songs that I've been working on over the past year or so & have enough for 2 full albums with lots of leftovers ready to go for a couple more. At the very least I plan on getting a single out & about for your listening pleasure. In the meantime I give you this link to my set from last night (January 13) at the 10x3 Songwriter's Showcase held at Brother's Lounge in Lakewood, Ohio. Enjoy & git yourselves to a show soon!

Thank You, Happy Holidays & Happy New Year...

I just want to give a quick THANK YOU to everyone that came out to the shows this year, bought/downloaded the music & supported the bands & I. It is greatly appreciated & I think you folks are fantastic folks! New music will be here in 2016 as I have a slew of songs I'm in the process of writing. Have a safe & fun holiday season & I will see y'all in the new year.

New Gigs & New Songs

Hey All! I've been away from this site for way too long & I apologize for that. I've added some new shows/venues & will be adding some more MP3s soon as well. Be sure to check out the "Shows" page for the gigs & I'll post again when the new music is up.

I'm Going For A Ride...A LONG Ride

Now that I'm done bugging you about all the shows I had last week, I want to let you know about a little adventure I'll be embarking on in July. It's a bike (bicycle, not motorized) ride to raise money for cancer research. It's called Velosano (velosano.org) & is sponsored by the Cleveland Clinic. I respect everyone's opinion about the Clinic, good or bad, and for those that don't think favorably about the organization I ask that you refrain from any negative comments. If this ride were held by UH I would still do it because I believe in the cause which is to help raise money for cancer research & beat this thing! Yes, I am asking for donations! I have a page set up where you can contribute. There are a few different rides & I have decided to do the 50 mile course (which apparently has a lot of hills). If you would like to donate you can do so here...http://ccf.convio.net/site/TR?px=2956982&fr_id=1550&pg=personal My goal is $1000 & any amount, no matter how small or large, is GREATLY appreciated! I'm sure we all know somone who has been touched by cancer in some form whether it be a family member or friend. I know plenty of people that have fought & beaten it while I also know many that have not. I'm just trying to do what I can to help everyone beat it. Thank you for taking the time to read this long winded, inarticulate mess of words and thank you in advance for any contributions you folks may make!
