Live Album Recording

Saturday, November 12, 2016 I will be recording about 17 songs for a live album. If you'll be in the Willoughby, OH area stop by Beal's Pickles & Pints around 9pm or so. The first set will be all original songs & after that I'll get to requests & anything else I feel like playing.

Nashville!

I'm very excited to announce that on November 30 I will be playing the legendary Bluebird Cafe as part of a songwriter's in the round hosted by my friend Jim Mann. If you'll be in the area please try to stop by! In addition to Jim & I, Stephen Wilson & Ragan Rae will be on the bill. The show will run from 6pm - 8pm & information can be found here...http://bluebirdcafe.com/event.cfm?id=250687&cart

Live Album

I've decided it's about time for me to record a live album. The tentative date is Nov. 12 at Beal's Pickles & Pints in Willoughby, OH. The bar is waiting to see what time the Ohio State football game will be that day before we set everything in stone. Once confirmation is made I will be posting it here. The details for the recording are like this...The first set will be all original songs spanning my catalog from the Block days to new songs I've written that haven't been played in front of an audience yet. After that I'll be doing the request/cover material. The whole night should be a fun party though so bring lots of people & lets pack the place!

New Music

Tonight, September 13, 2016, I am going back into the studio to resume recording on an album we started a few years back. The title of the album is Snapshots & although there is no time table set for release I am hoping to finish recording it by the end of the year. I'm very excited about finally getting this album & these songs out. I'm assembling a nice cast of characters for this album & although it will be released under my name the Standing 8s will be on most of the tracks.

In addition to this album I am about 80% finished writing a separate album entitled Every Crowded Street. That album is a loose concept album based around what/who I see at my shows. The album follows an over confident character on his journey through a night on the town. It's deeper than that but will still be a fun record. I'm not sure when we'll start recording that but my hope is spring 2017.

If that weren't enough (& I'm sure it is), I'm also putting together a live album. This one will be pretty cool as it will consist of Rambler, 8s & even Block songs but the arrangements are a bit different & it's just me on acoustic, harmonica, stompbox & vocals. No band, no overdubs, one take, rough & tumble. Again, not sure of a release date but hopefully that will be ready to go around January if not before.

That's the scoop! Be on the lookout for videos of the recording process & updates as I move along with everything.

New Video

I've added a video of my 9.6.16 set from Wilbert's Food & Music. I opened for Val & The Southern Line and their set is part of the video. If you haven't checked them out I highly recommend you do so. They are wonderful people & very talented musicians! Click the link or photo below.

We Say Goodbye To A Beloved

Hey Y'all. I'm sad to announce that original Standing 8 member Rick Pflueger has decided to step away from the Standing 8s/Turnpikes. There was no "artistic differences" or angry words between us. He just has a lot on his plate & something had to give. Unfortunately for us that something was this band. We will be moving forward as I am returning to the studio next week to resume recording of an album we started a few years back. I also have an additional album just about written & will hopefully be recording that soon. There are a couple other surprises I have up my sleeve that will hopefully come to fruition in the coming months so stay tuned for that. As for the live version of the band the goal is to add a second guitarist & possibly a keyboard player. For now though I am focusing on writing & recording.

Rambler 454 is back at PPITP!

Rambler 454 will be back at Painseville's Party in the Park on July 17th. The format will be a little different this year. Instead of having 2 stages side by side there will be one main stage & a side stage. We will be doing 2 half hour sets on the side stage. Set 1 will be from 3:30pm-4pm & set 2 will be from 5pm-5:30pm. This is always an incredibly fun event so come on out & bring the family!
